Never Severed

Never Severed

He glibly smiled asked her “should I be worried”?
A dismal laugh and she said “no, don’t be bothered”
An angel of convenience, just wasn’t enough
Closing her eyes, she cried bitterly to her Father

“He was the only one that was there for me Lord
I feel my life, my soul caving in around me”
The tears started to flow as she reached for her adored
"I long for his sweet love to once again surround me"

She managed to break her own heart, though it caused her despair
“Life can’t always be so harsh, it must have an end”
She’d burdened him long enough, so better this way
Like the years before, she’d live bereft of her beloved friend

He once had been there loving her, calling her his love
Guiding, helping, lending his warm loving shoulder
But he found someone better, so he tried to leave their love
As love was left behind, his choice made his heart colder

It was better this way, she had handed him his out
Although they both knew their love would never sever
It was an inconvenience to love her so much still
He no longer burdened; she would cry for forever
